This website was extremely useful in my research, focusing on the types and need for child labour, the working conditions, the extent of child labour use and the ultimate end of child labour in the Industrial Revolution. This highlighting of different aspects of child labour in Britain helped me break my research into sections (under headings of each aspect) – so, this source helped me gain additional data as well as organise my collected data.

Townsend, J. (2006) Weary work and lousy leisure. Oxford: Raintree.
This book includes information on children from many periods in history, including Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, World War 1, the modern day, and the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution section detailed the variety of dangerous jobs that children did in both urban and rural areas, including photographs from the time as well as interesting facts and stories. I am going to include some of these true stories from this book as quotes in my museum. After reading through this source, I was able to gain a better understanding of children’s lives in the Industrial Revolution.

This page of information details the effects of the Industrial Revolution on children. The working and living conditions of children are outlined and, from this site’s page, I learned more comprehensive information concerning the jobs that children did and the views of people (such as the government) on the conditions. This source was useful as it produced new data, allowing me to understand more about the severity of children’s lives in the Industrial Revolution. (For example, the majority of children were paid 1/10 of what men were paid.)
